Jerome Harrison, who gave the land for the Jerome Harrison School, The Bare Plain Chapel  and the Bare Plain Cemetery.

Clara Eliza Smith, 1865 - 1943, who donated money to build the Edward Smith Library in Northford.



She was Head of the Mathematics Department at Wellesley College.


Interestingly, she was the first white woman to cross the Gobi Desert.
